The guides and tools on shlohmo.com are for general information and learning. Please read this page so you know what our content is, and what it is not.

General information only

Our guides explain music software, recording, mixing and music theory in plain language. They are written from manufacturers’ documentation, official pricing pages and other sources we link to in each guide. They are not professional, legal, financial or tax advice. If a decision matters, such as a large purchase, a contract or a royalty question, check with the company involved or a qualified professional.

Prices and product details change

Software prices, editions, trials and system requirements change often, and many companies show different prices in different countries. We link to the official page for every price we quote. Always check the seller’s current page before you buy.

Our free tools give estimates

Our tools run in your browser and are built to be accurate, but their results are estimates:

• Key and BPM detection analyses audio automatically and can be wrong, especially on songs with key changes, tempo changes or little percussion. Use your ears to confirm.
• The streaming royalty calculator uses typical average rates. Real payouts depend on your distributor, the listener’s country, the type of subscription and other factors, so your statements may differ.
• Calculators such as the delay calculator use standard formulas. Results are starting points for your own judgement.

Audio you load into our tools is processed on your own device and is not uploaded to us.

We do not test every product

Unless a guide says otherwise, we have not tested the products we write about ourselves. Our Editorial Policy explains how we research and how we correct mistakes.

External links

Our guides link to other websites, such as software makers and the sources for our figures. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, prices or privacy practices.
